Acne Treatment
Acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands. The sebaceous glands culminate into the hair follicles. When the openings of the hair follicles are becoming clogged, acne occurs. The disorder manifests itself mainly at the beginning of puberty. The hormonal changes in this period affect the skin. After adolescence it usually subsides spontaneously. However, with some people it keeps coming back or it arises after adolescence. It is also very common for the acne to worsen during pregnancy or under the influence of hormones. The underlying cause of acne has not yet been solved, but it is clear that the disorder arises through the cooperation of various factors. Acne is a skin condition that in most cases can be treated very well! You can also contact us for mild impurities, a shiny skin or an oily T-zone. We will make you a tailor-made treatment plan.

How does an acne treatment work?
The acne treatment consists of two components.:

A ZO Acne treatment in our clinic consists of a deep cleansing in which impurities are removed. During the treatment we will use the professional ZO Skin Health products. We start with a cleanse after which we exfoliate the dead skin cells through an exfoliating lotion with lactic acid. Afterwards we prep the skin to prepare it for the deep cleanse. After the deep cleanse the acne treatment will be concluded with a serum full of antioxidants and soothing substances to restore the skin barrier and a SPF against UV-radiation. As a result the skin recovers quickly after the treatment and you are immediately presentable again. The home-treatment makes the epidermis thinner, has a sebum-dissolving effect, reduces sebum production and counteracts bacteria. So you will be doing more than 50% of the treatment at home! The products are not care-products but treatment-products. The efficacy has been scientifically proven.
Sulfur Masque
During the extensive ZO Skin Health + Oil Control Treatment we use the addition of the Sulfur Masque. This natural, clay-based mask with sulfur has a deep cleansing and antiseptic effect. Afterwards it will calm the skin, hydrate and fights irritation. It will leave you with sebum-free, healthy skin.

The use of products with a high concentration of active ingredients can cause a reaction such as redness and flaking. This reaction is temporary, the skin will get used to the ingredients. This ensures that the reaction will get less but the effect of the active ingredients will remain. The more reaction the more result. Less use of the product will also give less reaction or improvement. More reaction may be experiences around the mouth and eyes.
In most cases a course of six treatments is started, once a week or every two weeks. If necessary the number of treatments will be expanded. It is then advisable and in some cases even necessary to come back once every two to three months for a maintenance treatment. In addition, you will be advised during the intake about the products that are best for your skin to use at home to support the acne treatments. Early treatment prevents the formation of disfiguring scars!
We will treat once every 2-4 weeks. When the skin is calmer the treatments will be reduced.
